Semen Gresik’s Rapid Response Team Provides Assistance for Flood Victims in Rembang Regency
Rembang, March 15, 2022 - PT Semen Gresik (PTSG), through the Disaster Response Task Force Rapid Response Team (TRC), mobilized humanitarian aid by providing assistance to flood-affected residents in seven villages in Rembang Regency.
The assistance distributed by PTSG for flood-affected residents included 350 staple food packages containing 5 kg of rice, 1 liter of cooking oil, 1 kg of sugar, 5 pcs of instant noodles, and 1 box of teabags. As members of the Rumah BUMN Rembang, MSMEs were involved in supplying the food packages.
Dharma Sunyata, PTSG’s Senior Manager of Communication and CSR Unit, stated that the food assistance and the involvement of the Semen Gresik’s rapid response team were a form of the company’s care, empathy, and condolences to the flood-affected victims.
“This assistance is part of the company’s commitment and social responsibility to support the community amidst the disaster. Hopefully, this assistance can benefit the victims to recover and rise from difficult circumstances quickly,” Sunyata explained in a press release on Tuesday (15/3).
According to Sunyata, his party collaborated with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Rembang Regency in providing assistance to determine the affected points so that the aid was right on target.
He continued that the floods had inundated three subdistricts in Rembang, referring to data from BPBD. The areas include Kedungtulup Village, Sumber District, with 26 affected families, several villages in Kaliori District, such as Pengkol Village with 10 affected families, Wiroto Village with 20 affected families, Sidomulyo Village with 167 affected families, Tunggulsari Village with 97 affected families, and Pancur Village in Pancur District with 17 affected families.
Sunyata added that this disaster response assistance to the people of Rembang was not the first assistance provided by PTSG. His party once collaborated with BPBD of Central Java to support the flood disaster handling in Cilacap and Pekalongan Regencies and the surrounding areas.
Sri Jarwati, the Head of BPBD in Rembang Regency, expressed her gratitude for Semen Gresik’s solidarity in distributing logistics aid to flood-affected residents in several areas. She explained that the extreme weather, indicated by the intensity of heavy rains, had inundated several areas of the Rembang Regency.
“We thank and express our gratitude for Semen Gresik on behalf of the Rembang Regency Government.” This assistance would be beneficial in easing the psychological and financial burdens of the affected residents,” Jarwati added.
She also expected that the cooperation with PTSG will continue to be closely intertwined in the future. Her party wished for the sustainable operation and blessing of the company in honor of all their good deeds.
